I love the Rolling Stones more than Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, The Who, and even the Beatles. I’m not saying they were better or more talented or whatever. I’m saying I love them the most. Their music is closer to my heart than any of the others.
And this is coming from someone whose dad was an…
My parents never listened to the Beatles or the Rolling Stones (mainly Tom Jones and Elvis) so I don’t have a similar musical background.
I agree with the comments about the Rolling Stones, and like to hear them from time to time.
For me, I think the Beatles will always win out since the Beatles’ music always makes me feel better, while the other bands in this post are ok if I’m in a particular mood.
As my Latin teacher would have said, de gustibus non disputandum est.
Apparently there are no good songs about England.
I guess they mean “songs that aren’t depressing”. As much as I like “A Day In The Life”, I wouldn’t call it an uplifting tune.
I also like “Life In A Northern Town” but I get cold and depressed just watching the video.
Strawberry Fields Forever - The Beatles
The Beatles always seem to cheer me up. Except for Revolution #9.
The Beatles - Drive My Car/The Word/What You’re Doing
The best things about listening to the Beatles Love album:
1) You don’t have to see the Cirque du Soleil dancers/acrobats
2) It’s in stereo so you can listen with one headphone
3) It’s great to hear well-done mashups of Beatles songs with Beatles songs
The Flaming Beatles Lips - I Want You
…I want you so bad, I’m playing for 17 minutes.
Dear Prudence - The Beatles
One of my favorite songs by The Beatles…it got me through some hard times once.
This video has some nice footage of The Beatles in the studio and in India.
iTunes - The Beatles - new commercial
The animation technique on this is awesome.
The Beatles - You Never Give Me Your Money
I think that this will always be my favorite song. This or Golden Slumbers. I could listen to Abbey Road a million times.
I won’t go into the long story why this is the case. However when I was in college I dated a girl who argued that John Lennon was the best Beatle. I went with Paul McCartney. I admire John Lennon, but I’ll have to stick with Paul because of these songs. The girl was never heard from again.
The Heatless - And Your Wife
This guy’s “shreds” are great. I don’t know if I posted this one before.
